The “Precautionary Boil Water Notice” issued on September 14, 2022, is hereby rescinded following the repair of a water main break, which impacted the residents located east of East St., south of East 9th St, west of Pinehurst St. and north of Pearl St, Texarkana, Arkansas. An adequate disinfectant level has been established throughout the distribution system and the satisfactory completion of the bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink.

Texarkana Water Utilities has issued a precautionary boil water notice for the area including residences east of East St, south of East 9th St, west of Pinehurst St., and north of Pearl Street, Texarkana, Arkansas.

The order has been issued as a precautionary measure due to the possibility that contaminated water could enter the distribution system because of a loss in normal system pressure. The boil water order has been issued due to a water main break caused by a broken flange and a total coliform-positive sample located on Siebert and Washington streets.

During a ‘Boil Water’ order, affected area customers must be advised that their tap water may be unsafe for human consumption. Water used for drinking or food preparation must be boiled briskly for one minute prior to use. Ice cubes should be discarded, and only boiled water used for making ice.

Remember, this is a “precautionary boil water notice,” the notice will remain in effect until the problem has been corrected, an adequate disinfectant level is established throughout the distribution system and a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink.
