Watchmakers have had a surged interest in GMT watches in 2022, perhaps a result of the return to world travel post-pandemic. The latest example that indicates two time zones is the BR 05 GMT White from Bell & Ross. The brand was founded in 1994 by the French industry designer Bruno Belamich and his friend Carlos Rosillo and has maintained its manufacturing facility in La Chaux-de-Fonds since 1996.

Taking inspiration from aviation, the watches are equipped with high-quality Swiss mechanical movements, which are meticulously regulated in order to guarantee the precision that is expected when translating pilot instruments to wristwear.

The BR 05 was first introduced in 2019 and offers a decidedly urban-style interpretation of other releases from the brand. Namely, the Instruments Collection, whose signature square case with four screws on the top presents a round dial with four oversized Arabic numerals and eight indices. The BR 05 GMT White maintains those design elements, only adapting them to serve the GMT complication.

This product family of BR 05 previously included a time-only watch, a chronograph, and a GMT model with a black dial. Expanding the growing collection is the new GMT model adorned with a stunning white dial and surface texture. The second time zone, which is indicated by a central red-tipped hand, is discreetly integrated on the flange.

“After testing quite a few different shades, we chose the most precious white,” explains Bruno Belamich, the brand’s creative director. “The choice fell on a metallic white, galvanized with a particular texture with silver reflections, very slightly pearly.” This metallic effect echoes the style of the steel case, which is distinguished by brushed and polished finishing.

The case has a diameter of 41mm, a modest height of 11.1mm, and a water resistance of 100 meters. Revealed by the sapphire crystal caseback is the BR-CAL.325 automatic movement, which is based on a Sellita SW330.

The new Bell & Ross BR 05 GMT White retails for $5,000 on a rubber strap and $5,500 on a metal bracelet. The watch is available for preorder, with deliveries scheduled for October.
